It's more impactful if I use this space here to talk about how the carbon footprint of lithium batteries in EV's Lithium mining is is disgustingly harmful to the environment, even more than coal. Check out the lithium strip mines in Chile, seriously, google it. https://meche.mit.edu/news-media/how-much-co2-emitted-manufacturing-batteries Manufacturing aside, only 1% of Lithium worldwide is recycled as of 2023, due to prohibitive costs that should be borne by EV companies, taxed by consumers just like ICE emission tax since all these batteries get disposed close to home in SEA (rare earth disposal plants). Lithium leaching there is another matter altogether. TLDR, the media and governments are too short sighted to look at end-to end-carbon footprints and don't analyze the promises of "clean transport" when they are oblivious to the production and disposal of these batteries in cars, hidden in the mines of South America and the landfills of Southeast Asia.
