About Prashanth Gowni

As a student research assistant at Fraunhofer IFAM, I developed a feedback system using a laser line triangulation sensor for automating vacuum suction blasting, a process that removes damaged layers from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials. I uses machine learning to find edges of machined and not machined region, and combined data from the sensor and the robot to determine the quality of removal.Prior to this, I worked as a work student at Airbus, where I developed a tool to automatically create 3D-models of the primary structural members in CATIA using the parametric design approach. I also developed tools for automatic creation of manufacturing drawings from master parts, worked with external suppliers for development of new master parts, and supported an international team by introducing the Airbus proprietary Python library and helping them to resolve roadblocks. Additionally, I have experience as a programmer analyst at Cognizant, where I gained knowledge in agile software development and software testing life cycles, and exposure to functional and system integration testing under the insurance domain.I completed master's degree in mechatronics at Hamburg University of Technology, with a focus on Intelligent systems and robotics. I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology. I have published a paper on the design and development of an android robot called ARIA (Advanced Robot for Interactive Applications) at the 2017 3rd International Conference on Control, Automation and Robotics (ICCAR).I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge in mechatronics, robotics, programming, and machine learning to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions. I am motivated by learning new technologies and collaborating with diverse and talented teams. I am also an avid cyclist and a randonneur, having completed a 200 km endurance cycling event within 14 hours.
