About Prateek Paul
Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that leverages computational method to analyse set of biological data. I, Prateek Paul, am a student of B. Tech. Bioinformatics with life sciences and computers both being my field of interest. While pursuing my graduation, I am trying my best to get skilled to work at the crossroads of biology, statistics and computer science. I am involved in in-house database projects run by departmental faculties. These projects have exposed me to programming languages like C, C++, Python, Java, MySQL, HTML and few content management systems. In addition, I have gained working experience in basic bioinformatics topics namely pairwise sequence alignment, multiple sequence alignment, Phylogenetics, protein structural modelling etc. and softwares such as BLAST, ClustalW, PHYLIP and modellor/Swissmodel. Bioinformatics is exciting because it allows me to design algorithms to tackle some of these very large and complex biological datasets. It is fun because we find out new things about the world every time we run our code.
