About Prathamesh Mayekar

Hi! I am Prathamesh. I am a Research Scientist by profession. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be part of a profession that allows me to constantly learn innovate and uncover mysteries for a living. During my corporate stints I have had the opportunity to work on interesting machine learning problems such as computational advertising synthetic data generation and data anamoly detection. I have also looked at making data streams private by applying differential privacy. In the past I have used discrete event system simulation and mathematical programming for various corporate projects. I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru my Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and my Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecom. Engineering from the University of Mumbai (specifically from K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering). My academic research so far lies at the intersection of information theory and stochastic optimization. My most recent research is on developing communication-efficient algorithms for federated learning and distributed online learning. I am a recipient of the prestigious Jack Keil Wolf award at the International Symposium on Information Theory 2018 (ISIT' 18) the premier information theory conference.
