About Preciosa Ploth

Preciosa Ploth was born and raised in the northeast Los Angeles neighborhood of Highland Park and has taught since 2007. In addition to being the first in her family to receive a Bachelor of Art in Sociology (Occidental College), Preciosa continued to obtain a Master of Art in Education (Pepperdine University), a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Urban Teaching and Planning (California State, Los Angeles) and an Administrative Services Credential (National University). Dr. Ploth has gone on to publish her dissertation, Echándole Ganas: An Urban School's Effort to Engage Latino Parents, and presented it to the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2015. Dr. Ploth is driven to do all within her ability to improve the lives of students in varying communities and schools through practices to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Her focus to attain this goal goes beyond the classroom as she strives to focus on educating and engaging parents. She makes great efforts to ensure she helps students and families gain access to experiences and resources that they may not have known were available to them. To provide the opportunities that will make the difference, for that specific population of students, between attending college and graduating from college.
