About Preetaish Kaul

I was trained as a doctor and practiced Medicine for two-and-a-half years before turning to health writing. For over a decade now, I have been dabbling in health content in some form or the other. As a writer, I have been particularly interested in communication focused on creating conversations, something I haven’t quite had the chance to be involved with of late. Before I took up health writing, I worked as a resident doctor at my alma mater, ASCOMS Hospital, J&K. I think my stints with the departments of Emergency Medicine and Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at ASCOMS were immensely rewarding and have contributed to my growth as a writer. At Ebix I have been handling a team of 35 Medical Writers for a little over three years now. The work we do spans almost the entire range of health and medical content creation, with clients spread across pharmaceutical, consumer health and medical education sectors. At Via Media Health, I headed a team of ten health writers for about six-and-a-half years. The team was focused on creating health content straddling multiple genres of health communication. Ranging from articles for newspapers to scientific content for journals, Via Media Health’s content repository was at the heart of some very successful health campaigns the company ran over the years. As a Resident doctor at ASCOMS, I spent about two-and-a-half years looking after patients. More than half this time was spent as an Assistant Surgeon at the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. I also had short stints with the departments of Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics. Conversant with health writing, good communication skills, research skills, ability to strategize and lead. Editing and proofreading skills,Working under pressure, meeting deadlines without fail. I like to think of myself as skilled, focused, committed and hardworking. Over the years, I have been working closely with design, production and software teams to make sure we create good quality content. Off and on, I have also been working closely with business teams, helping them communicate with the client, and making sure client needs are properly understood.
