Background
About Preetham Phirangi
I've read enough 'About' sections that I sense who people are by just reading them. Some call this prejudice or overthinking, others a superpower.(Send me a connect request if you think it's the latter!) The saying 'the apple never falls far from the tree' resonates with me, but here, the "tree" is a person's deeply held 'beliefs'—the ones reflected in their actions, not just their words. At heart, who we are stems from what we truly believe. This isn’t really a superpower—it’s a skill we can all develop. By asking meaningful questions, really listening, and reflecting on people’s emotions and thoughts, we can connect the dots: how someone thinks, their responses in situations, and how they will fit into our team. For me, this skill simplifies people-centric work. It helps me confidently hire, trust, and build real relationships based on intrinsic beliefs, not just credentials because at a smaller scale, these beliefs matter just as much, if not more. I’ve made my share of mistakes: overlooking red flags, mismatching people, and not predicting workplace disharmony. Over time, I’ve developed a sense for spotting the right people, fostering camaraderie, and aligning teams. Here’s how I work-I set expectations by showing the company’s true culture in interviews—asking questions that clarify both the candidate's abilities and alignment with our values (it works wonders!)-I discuss challenges openly during onboarding, bridging cultural gaps early, foreseeing outcomes-I create spaces for honest conversations—1-to-1 meetings to help people vent and share concerns with me or my team-I constantly refine my role, because I 'believe' in ownership and 'believe' in team-building. The hypothesis is that it results in (we're still getting there; not attributing the success so far all to myself): improved job satisfaction, better mission focus, better coffee-break conversations, better retention, and transparency between management and employees. All of this is possible only because of a deeply held belief -'people are what they believe.' This is what really tickles my brain and that's why I put this all up. Now you know what I'm 'About.' Apart from the things I mentioned above, I like other 'regular' stuff too like perf management, payroll, employee engagement, compensation planning and organizational development.
