I am a dedicated and hard working individual. It is my creativity that inspires me and, sets me apart from everyone else in the monotonous masses. Charles Mingus once said, “Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.” Mingus was right; creativity is an underestimated skill. The most creative people have had the most ordinary ideas and turned them extraordinary. I aim to be like one of those individuals. I love to get inside the minds of the individual, as well as the population; which is why I got my degree in psychology. I would love to be able to apply my skills to designing behavior interventions, counseling, working with people of all ages, marketing or advertising, anywhere that I could let my creativity run wild. I know there are many creative people in the world, but no two are the same. I find comfort in the fact that no one thinks the same way that I do. I like to bounce my ideas off like-minded people and gain their feedback; constructive criticism is invaluable. Seeing what other people think and tweaking my idea to better fit the over-all vision brings me a particular amounts of joy. The great thinker, Edward De Bono once said, “Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.” True creativity cannot be brought on, creativity can only be achieved by looking outside yourself and drawing inspiration from the beauty around you.
