About Priscilla Bahena

I am a passionate and purpose-driven social work professional with over seven years of experience in family support, early childhood education, and community engagement. My journey began as a gritty and determined youth in care and evolved as I became an engaged parent, eventually stepping into leadership and service roles across nonprofit and educational spaces. Over the years, I have developed strong skills in trauma-informed care, program facilitation, and collaborative family engagement. I’ve led parent workshops, contributed to program development, and worked closely with communities to foster trust, deliver resources, and create space for healing and growth—all while advocating at both the organizational and policy levels. My Bachelor of Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University has laid a strong foundation for practice. As I prepare to enter my Master’s program, I remain committed to advancing work that centers families, equity, and empowerment. I show up with compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for people’s lived experiences. I am honored to have been recognized with awards such as the DCFS Scholarship, the DCFS Pamela Knight Award, and the Chicago Commons Parent Leadership Award. I am driven to practice social work across micro, mezzo, and macro levels—always with a focus on uplifting underserved communities.
