In Monte Alto, the district has chosen to participate in the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), forgoing the original PDAS evaluation system. The TAP initiative in Monte Alto supports teachers to improve the effectiveness and quality of their teaching in order to obtain mastery in student achievement. Currently, I am on the mentor teacher career path of this program. I have taught science to 9-12th grade students at Rio Grande City High School, Grulla High School and now Monte Alto High School.I have trained in various types of TAKS curriculum via the UT Dana Center, SIOP, and AVID. Restructured TEKS curriculum at high school for seniors not graduating due to nonmastery of the Science TAKS Exit Exam and STAAR End of Course Biology and Chemistry. AP training in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Previously coached girls Wrestling at Rio Grande City and Grulla High Schools, taking girls to Regionals and State Championships since 2005 to 2012. Currently in graduate study for masters in biology through UTPA August 2015 as part of the Gear Up Dual Enrollment Initiative. Specialties: other than teacher and mentor, counselor, parent, coach, college recruiter, life-planner, customer service and negotiation, etc.comes with the territory.
