About Priscilla Peron

It's only cold if you’re standing still. I always thought my dream was to be a diplomat. That seemed like an appropriate dream given my BA in International Relations. I gravitated towards having a strong voice in political affairs, and always pictured myself spending my days reading and drinking coffee while I took notes on how to make the world a better place to live. But when it happened, it felt like meh. Then I started doing academic research on cybersecurity and espionage in the scope of national defense, and I came across the importance of data in our society and how good software is also very important to the structure of virtually everything we do nowadays. That sparkle ignited the curious and investigative side of me: how is a software developed, after all? How do you know if that is good software? Is there a right or wrong way or is it about perspective? Since then, I just can`t get enough. Software development calls to all my passions; it incorporates problem solving, creativity and I can have as many breakpoints as I want to see in detail what is happening in it. I love developing consistent code and see it work, whether it is a SQL query for a business report or a script checking if there are documents stuck somewhere in the system. There aren`t enough words to describe how invincible I feel when I find the bug that has been breaking my code for a month. That feeling of resilience and overcoming challenges is what defines me the best. I am always looking for the next challenge, the next learning opportunity. I thrive in places that I can grow my experience, learn new skills, and make a difference. My specialties include quickly learning new skills and programming languages, problem solving, developing good code, and understanding why and how things are done the way they are. I ask lots of questions to understand how things work and am always willing to help when people need. So far, I have C#, SQL/MySQL and JavaScript as the strongest skills and Java, C, C++, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Phyton, MySQL, Object Oriented Programming, Networking skills.NET, and Angular under my belt. I'm always enthusiastically looking for more to aggregate to my knowledge.
