Always seeking a challenge - math has become my second language. Currently enrolled at Florida State University, I expect to graduate in May of 2020 with my Bachelor's degree in Statistics and a minor in Mathematics. I am eager to enter the next phase of my professional career upon graduation. I love to learn new things and solve problems, big or small. My passion for math is driven by my desire for a challenge, and the reward that is felt when a difficult problem is solved. Having dabbled in the Mechanical Engineering program at FSU, I also have an interest in Thermodynamics and Statics. While I was classified as an Engineering student before finding my home in the Statistics field, I learned something about myself. I had a deep interest in systems, how they function, why do they function like that, etc. I have found this ability to look below the surface, for the purpose of improving systems, is something I find myself doing on a daily basis. For instance, upon the release of new technology, I can't help but wonder "how does it work?","is it actually that efficient?". Not only can I apply this to physical items, but to the inner-workings of systems and processes. I am currently preparing materials to submit to the Statistics Department at FSU to earn my official SAS Certification. This portfolio will showcase projects utilizing SAS for each relevant course I have completed. By the time I graduate, I will have 5 SAS courses under my belt. Since I entered my senior year of high school, I have been an employee at Leon County Schools. Upon my graduation, I will have worked a total of 7 years in Extended Day Programs for the county. I have been the Assistant Program Manager since August 2017. I am directly responsible for supervising the staff, the students, and keeping the program "running" day-to-day. I work alongside the Program Director to follow the program's assigned budget, ensure collection of monthly tuition, and update financial records daily. I've also assisted in implementing new procedures to better efficiency and satisfaction of parents of our enrolled students. For instance: we needed to update our communication methods to include an additional resource for notifying parents of important information as soon as it comes available. I created our program's 'Remind' account to send out text messages at no cost to the program and no cost to the parents outside of their normal text message rates. I am ready for a career opportunity that will challenge me, and continue to teach me well beyond what I could learn in the classroom.
