About Priya Monga

I am currently a full time deans list student obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology and minoring in biology at the University of the Fraser Valley. I work for Canucks Autism Network as an onsite supervisor. My long-term goal is to become a pediatric occupational therapist. I would like to work with children who have neurodevelopmental disorders or neurotrauma when I become an occupational therapist so that I can increase their independence in their daily activities. My passion of pursuing a career in occupational therapy stems from having a family member who is neurodivergent and providing aid to them. I additionally have an interest in connecting with families, especially during the challenging journey of accepting a diagnosis for their child. Patience becomes essential in these moments, and offering support brings me fulfillment. My greatest strengths are my ability to provide neurodiversity support, leadership, and having exceptional communication skills. I have had many opportunities working with people who are neurodiverse and have establish methods to enhance skill development from these experiences. I also am able to lead a team as I do when I work as an onsite supervisor for Canuck's Autism Network and as a research assistant for UFV's Psychology department. I clearly and efficiently communicate which is evident when I help lead exercises for an exercise group designated for people with Parkinson's under In Balance Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
