About Prottoy Samir
I am Prottoy Mohammad Mahdi Samir (he/him) from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am a Bard College graduate on the route to pursuing graduate studies in Physics at Michigan State University. I have had experience doing research in the intersection of Gravitational Wave Astrophysics, Optics and Material Science since my sophomore year. My research interests during my time at Bard College has mostly been in analyzing mirror coatings and in noise estimation for Gravitational Wave detection in future generation GW Detectors. I also have had experience in studying nickel based superalloys and its mechanical properties under extreme conditions at The College of Engineering in Michigan State University (MSU). Currently, I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at MSU. I am exploring my research interests at the intersection of Nuclear Atomic Physics and Particle Physics at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams. My long-term goal is to become an independent scientist and mentor many more enthusiasts into scientific research.
