About Pujan Bhatta

Throughout my career as a software developer, I have encountered unique challenges and opportunities that have shaped my professional growth. In 2018, I embarked on an internship with the Government of Canada, where I gained valuable insights into the complexities of software development in a government setting. Following this experience, I joined Stream Data Systems as an intern, stepping into a crucial role after the departure of the lead developer, who had been with the company for 25 years. Despite the initial setback, I quickly adapted and, with the support of my colleagues, grasped the company's intricate software architecture. Witnessing a consultant debug and resolve a critical issue was a pivotal moment for me, as it unlocked my ability to navigate code, identify problems, and develop effective solutions. This newfound skill transformed me from someone who knew how to code into a developer who could tackle complex challenges with confidence. Within six months, I played an instrumental role in hiring three developers and spearheaded a complete rewrite of the frontend from ASP to React. As I focused on the server side, I also automated numerous time-consuming tasks, liberating the team to concentrate on software development. The automation solutions I implemented are still in use today. Recognizing my contributions, I was honored with the student of the year award at my university. In pursuit of continued growth, I joined CSI Dry Eye, where I faced the task of adhering to best coding practices. Committed to delivering excellence, I developed a habit of clean coding, surpassing the performance of the entire existing team. Consequently, the company decided to engage a larger consulting firm to support our project. Unfortunately, their planning team misinterpreted our requirements, leading us down a misguided path. This experience was a turning point, as it highlighted my ability to lead and make sound decisions. We severed ties with the consulting firm, abandoned their flawed project, and I assumed leadership of my own team.
