About Punit Matta

I believe the foundation of medicine is communication. As an MD/MBA, I strive to become the best bridge possible between patients, their biology, and the whole network of organizations that have a hand in their care. Communication is my birthmark. As a child of Sindhi immigrants, I navigated the boundary between my adopted culture and my ancestral one. My fascination with communicating drove me to learn ancient languages and history, then medicine, and finally business to address some of the coordinating frictions we encounter throughout the healthcare continuum. I am obsessed with equity in health delivery and seeking nuances that align us. I ground myself in twin faiths: that many of us have good intentions but are trapped by bad incentives; and that this world is in many ways only as good as we make it. We all have individual limitations, but I believe that collaboration, connection, and good communication allow us to expand the portion of the world that we can change for the better. I'm seeking opportunities that align with the clinical practice of psychiatry, which is my intended specialization after medical school. I want my efforts in medicine to extend beyond the clinic, into the social determinants of health, and drive credible, meaningful, and sustained differences in the lives of patients. I'm most interested in positions that improve care delivery, digital health, and psychedelic medicine.
