About Qinglan Ling

I was trained as a pharmacologist with a tracked history in neuroscience. My postdoc training with Dr. Steven Gray led me to the exciting and challenging field of gene therapy. I started by developing a gene therapy for SURF1-Leigh syndrome, for which I was honored to have worked with great people in the lab and Cure Mito foundation. I then extended my efforts into MTATP6, a mitochondrial gene, for which I received funding from Uplifting Athletes foundation and NICHD K99/R00 award. Currently, my lab focuses on developing gene therapy for primary mitochondrial diseases, and we are trying to use genetic tools to address not only the nuclear gene errors, but also the mitochondrial gene-related diseases. Integrity, perseverance, and ownership are the core values I hold for myself, and my lab. The goal of our work is to 1) train and inspire young scientists; 2) give kids with mitochondrial diseases hopes of experiencing the world in ways they couldn't; 3) advance the scientific field with new knowledge and technology.
