About Quinterrence Bell

Quinterrence Bell is a passionate educator and lover of learning. He is currently the proud principal of Excellence Boys Charter School, an all boys school serving grades K-4 in Brooklyn. Prior to this role he served as a Middle School Reading Teacher and Instructional Coach at Brownsville Collegiate Middle School. He has also served as an Outreach Recruiter for Uncommon Schools Brooklyn Region. In this role, Quinterrence traveled across the country and recruited top talent to work for Uncommon Schools. He was able to share his firsthand experience of both teaching and leading in an Uncommon School. Before joining Recruitment, he worked as a Lead Teacher and Instructional Leader at Excellence Boys Charter School in the Bedford Stuyvesant community of Brooklyn. During his time at Excellence Boys, Quinterrence led students to perform to the best of their ability on Interim Assessments and New York State Test. Under his reading instruction, all of his students were able to show at least one years’ worth of reading growth. Similarly, under his math instruction students’ performance on Math Interim Assessments continued to rise. During the 2013-2014 school year, his 3rd graders showed a combine average of 42 points of growth. Quinterrence also had the privilege of coaching and mentoring teachers, which he believes is the greatest support system any teacher can have. As an avid learner Quinterrence believes that there is always room for growth and new skill sets, which is why he attends professional development and trainings frequently. He holds a B.A. in English from Morehouse College and a M.A. in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education.
