Background
About Rachael Baker
With five years of experience in organizing, I have successfully led numerous campaigns, trained hundreds of activists, and planned high-attendance events. My achievements in this field can be attributed to my unwavering commitment to a hopeful vision, a strong sense of self-determination, and a focused approach to details and relationship-building.Growing up, my mother often tells stories of how I was determined to get what I wanted, even from a young age. She recalls that before I could walk, I somehow managed to escape my high chair and find my way to the snack cupboard—face and hands covered in chocolate, with wide eyes that seemed to say,"Please don't be mad at me." This early drive for autonomy and problem-solving has stayed with me throughout my career.Raised in an all-white town, I quickly learned that I had to work harder to access the opportunities and resources I needed. Drawing from my mother's selflessness and my father's strong family bonds, I developed a deep sense of care for others and a commitment to fighting for justice. These values are central to my work, where I unapologetically center my advocacy around climate justice, affordable housing, and the reinvestment in our communities—core tenets of Black Liberation.Though I am a proud college dropout, my ultimate goal is to inspire thousands of people to take action in their communities. One of my most fulfilling endeavors is coaching and training new activists to engage in the work of building the world we need. To date, I have helped train and support several hundred volunteers toward this mission. My career is defined by my belief in continuous growth and feedback. I’ve seen firsthand the impact that constructive criticism can have, both in my personal development and in the success of the projects I manage. This commitment to improvement has been integral to my success in electoral campaigns, event planning, and multiracial, cross-class base-building.However, my greatest accomplishment has been the relationships I’ve cultivated over the years. Colleagues trust me not only to get the work done, but also to approach every challenge with honesty, transparency, and a focus on collective success.I would be honored to collaborate with you and your team as we continue to advance the pursuit of Collective Liberation.
