About Rachel Bath

I'm an academic philosopher turned community researcher at CCRW, where I'm passionate about leveraging my humanities and philosophical training to drive community-building initiatives and projects. At CCRW my team and I tackle the challenges people with disabilities across Canada face in achieving meaningful and equitable employment. We champion the principle,"nothing about us without us," ensuring the voices of the disability community are always front and center in our research, evaluation, and advocacy activities. At CCRW, I wear many hats: from writing grants and helping to design projects to preparing ethics materials and conducting focus groups and interviews. I support our analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data, develop PowerBI reports, and manage data documentation. I also support with our policy analysis work and consult with government agencies on key disability initiatives. While my strength is in qualitative research, I am developing competencies in quantitative analysis, in R, and in policy development, implementation, and analysis. Before joining the non-profit sector, I earned my doctorate in Philosophy, focusing on Edith Stein's views on personal becoming to understand how structural factors such as work and education, and personal factors such as empathy, self-reflection, values, motivation, and gender, together create who we are. As a lecturer, I designed courses to motivate students to explore their core values through courses on personal identity, ethics, and feminist philosophy.
