Hi, I'm Rachel, a resilient Nursing Student at Nightingale College, driven by my determination to overcome adversity and provide a better future for my children. At age 37, I embarked on my journey back to school, pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. My path has been challenging, with doubters along the way who believed I couldn't achieve my goals as a single mother. However, I defied expectations and graduated from Palomar College in 2021 with an associate degree in Math, Science, and General Studies and an EMT Certificate. Despite facing obstacles at home and in my career as an EMT, I persevered and now work with AMR in the La Mesa Fire District, responding to 911 calls with fire crews. My unwavering determination and refusal to give up serve as an inspiration to my children and those around me. My education is a second chance to show my children that success is achievable through hard work and perseverance. My experiences have instilled in me a deep empathy and compassion for others. My journey through obstacles will enable me to better relate to and support my future patients. Beyond my achievements, I envision a future where I can financially support single mothers in their educational pursuits and inspire others to reach their full potential. I aspire to be a beacon of strength for my friends, family, and those who observe my journey. My commitment to never quitting and my desire to assist others exemplify my determination to overcome adversity and positively impact the lives of those around me.
