About Rachel Boyd

Rachel Boyd is an archaeologist focused on Native societies before, during, and after European Contact in the Southeastern United States, particularly Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. Another primary focus is geospatial techniques and methods within archaeology. Beyond fieldwork, Rachel enjoys educating the public about archaeology and Indigenous and local histories. She thrives in areas that she can share with the public, including museums and National Parks. Her current work at the Aurora Fossil Museum expands beyond archaeological and museum curation. As the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, she involves herself in supervisory tasks among other employees, organizing museum events, and improvizing solutions when issues arise. She hopes to broaden her skills as she moves outside of Eastern North Carolina. When she isn't surveying a potential site or redesigning museum exhibits, Rachel enjoys playing volleyball, being around any body of water (from creeks to the ocean), and adding stamps to her National Park Passport.
