Background
About Rachel Duncan
I am an experienced early childhood educator, leader, and instructor with over 20 years dedicated to supporting children, families, and educators. My teaching practice is rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and Forest School approach, with a focus on outdoor, place-based, and holistic pedagogies. Since 2024, I have taught practicum and theory courses in the Early Childhood Education program at Bow Valley College in both online and in-person formats, where I mentor and assess pre-service educators, design lessons, and support reflective professional growth. In addition, I serve as President of the Calgary Reggio Network Association, leading professional learning and collaboration among educators across Alberta. I bring strong skills in instruction, mentorship, curriculum development, and community engagement, and my objective is to contribute to the field of early childhood education by equipping future educators with innovative, responsive, and research-informed pedagogical practices.
