About Rachel Frederick

Hello everyone, my name is Rachel Frederick and I am an avid transfer student into the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. I had struggled for a while to find the degree path that would enable me to continually learn, grow, and use my passions to their fullest but I have finally found it in the College of Global Futures studying sustainability. My three biggest passions in life are rock climbing (which is best expressed through outdoor climbing), helping other people grow/learn, and serving my community and the environment through facilitating educational programming, connecting with communities, and conservation field work. My BA in Sustainability is perfectly suited to those passions. During my studies in the field of sustainability I have learned how to use complex and future thinking as well as utilize effective and compassionate communication in order to promote and facilitate sustainability projects around the world. This has led me to understand how to achieve my long term goal of working for a company, non-profit, or having my own business that provides aid to those in need in through sustainable living. This could be working on projects such as providing solar energy to communities without electricity, explaining healthy farming methods, or teaching kids in schools why recycling is important and what the environment provides us with. Using this degree, I hope to work on outdoor and/or aid oriented projects because I am passionate about conserving the natural world through education, thoughtful work, and restoration projects especially in disadvantaged communities. This often leads me to be extremely motivated when I know my efforts will lead to a healthier and more beneficial future for myself and the people around me.
