About Rachel Leck

Rachel Leck is the Assistant Dean, Student Affairs at Canada’s largest law school. She cares about the future of the legal profession and leads a team dedicated to supporting future legal professionals through their JD studies. Her portfolio with the Common Law Section includes JD admissions, academic affairs, student mental health and wellness, academic accommodations, financial aid and awards, and career and professional development. Rachel spent 10 years in private practice as a litigator with expertise in employment law, human rights law, insurance defence and personal injury. She represented clients across Ontario and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Superior Court of Justice in over 20 communities across the province, as well as various administrative tribunals on behalf of individual and corporate clients. Rachel also acted in hundreds of private negotiations and mediations for her clients. In addition to her work, Rachel has developed expertise in non-profit board governance as a board member for over 20 years with various organizations, including as board chair of a francophone adult literacy agency in the GTA and a women’s shelter and rape crisis centre in Simcoe County. Rachel was appointed to the Canadian Human Rights Commission in September 2018 and served as a part-time Commissioner until 2021. She is fluent in English and French, and speaks Italian.
