Since 2012, I’ve worked at the intersection of health and safety and human behaviour, helping organizations move beyond checklists and compliance into the deeper, often unseen, drivers of action and inaction. As a public speaker, Consulting Hypnotist, and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, I specialize in revealing the unconscious 'why' behind workplace behavior — because the greatest risks often lie in what we don't realize we're doing. Too often, when something goes wrong, we hear: “This shouldn’t have happened.” But this kind of hindsight bias isn't just unhelpful — it’s a subtle form of denying reality. Similarly, when we say “Had I been aware of this, it wouldn’t have happened,” we're unconsciously bargaining with the past. While these statements may soothe our ego, they don’t fix problems — because meaningful corrective action can’t come from a place of delusion. The first step to creating real change is the willingness to level with ourselves — even when it's uncomfortable. I help companies do exactly that, by bringing awareness to how even our most well-intentioned behaviours can be part of the problem. I also teach teams how the subconscious mind interprets risk language — for example, how phrases like “Don’t hit that overhead wire” or “We can’t afford another incident” are often processed by the brain in ways that increase risk, not reduce it. What we focus on, we amplify. The solution to safety isn’t always another policy — it’s unlocking the humanness of the people doing the work.
