About Rachel Oreilly

As a Partner in the Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure (PENRI) group of A&O Shearman, I work alongside a team of global experts on the development and financing of projects contributing to decarbonisation. Working globally, I advise on the commercial and financial arrangements core to energy transition. My experience includes working with varied developers and their financiers across energy transition technologies, including green fuels/hydrogen, low carbon heat and power generation and supply (including offshore wind, solar, nuclear, CHP, heat pumps), carbon capture and projects in the battery value chain.I spent over 4 years as Senior Legal Counsel for E.ON UK plc, with responsibility for leading the co-ordination and delivery of legal support to its business and communities solutions business in the UK. There I lead a team of lawyers providing full scope in-house legal advice in relation to E.ON’s offerings to community, developer, industrial and commercial customers across distributed generation, energy efficiency and energy optimisation projects. I was seconded to UK Green Investment Bank plc (now part of Macquarie's Green Investment Group) from October 2012 to April 2013, assisting in the establishment of the Government Bank and their initial £635million of investment. I also contributed to the authorship of "Project Finance: Fourth Edition"(Sweet & Maxwell) and am a regular contributor to publications for Allen & Overy.Outside of work, my energy is spent with my husband and two young children, enjoying family life and renovating our home in Worcestershire countryside on the outskirts of Birmingham.
