About Rachel Porter

I work remotely while living in NE Ohio, as the Alumni Engagement Officer at Wells College in Aurora, NY. Wells is my alma mater and I love to support current students and connect with alumni. I am also in the process of getting my MPA from Ohio University, with a concentration in non-profit management: expected graduation 2023. At Racker Centers in Ithaca, NY, my job involved direct service work with 7-8 people. I also as coordinated care with another 12 individuals regarding development plans, setting goals, checking in with other professionals, general well-being, and more. I also worked with my peers to develop teen social workshops within our organization, and with an ally building network, coordinating with local college students. I worked at Howard Center (Burlington, VT) as a living skills specialist, with individuals ages 4-21. I worked with children on life skills that encompassed a broad range to support mental, physical, and emotional development. I worked for Gap (Burlington and South Burlington, VT) as a customer experience manager (assistant manager) and as a general manager. In retail, my biggest passions included delivering consistent, amazing customer service, training my team, being an energetic force among my immediate team and peers, and participating in training at meetings and conferences. My background and interests also include volunteering and mentoring. I spent several years volunteering as a mentor and tutor at King Street Center in Burlington, VT. I enjoy gardening, knitting, reading, biking, and in general, time outdoors. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a minor in Elementary Education. Currently, at Ohio University for my Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in non-profit management. I love teaching at any level- adult employees or when I am mentoring, and working with teens/children.
