My career has been about blending technical expertise with leadership. From developing innovative products to fostering a positive workplace culture, I am dedicated to driving success and continuous improvement. I prefer to be hands-on with projects rather than observing from a distance, always looking for ways to improve processes so teams can collaborate more effectively and enjoy their work. UI/UX Design After starting to specialize in front-end web and mobile development, I felt like I needed to enhance my design skills to create more usable and visually-appealing interfaces. After taking some online courses and practicing these skills on both existing and new apps, a new passion emerged. Design is one of the first steps in ensuring software effectively solves a problem, it requires thoughtful consideration of copywriting, aesthetics, and early feedback. Nowadays I use Figma to design new features and apps from the ground up and provide UI/UX guidance to programmers. Web Accessibility (WCAG) I firmly believe accessibility must be considered from the beginning of the design process, not as an afterthought right before launch. I've managed two major accessibility-focused projects and continue to drive efforts at Payment Source by providing training, advocating for accessibility best practices, and maintaining compliance with accessibility standards. Programming I discovered my passion for programming early in high school—it was the perfect blend of creativity and problem-solving. I have developed four mobile apps from scratch and over 10 web apps (two from scratch). My background in programming has strengthened my role as a technical manager, I'm able to engage in deeper technical discussions and collaborate on solutions more seamlessly. Project Management I have over 8 years of experience using Basecamp for project management, but I can quickly adapt to new tools. Successful projects require organized information, flexible scope, and clear communication. I have managed over 25 projects, ranging from company-wide initiatives to smaller, development team-focused efforts. Leadership & Coaching Clear expectations and well-defined processes are essential for effective teamwork. Approaching issues with curiosity instead of placing blame creates better opportunities to collaborate on solutions and move forward together. I have managed teams from 3-7 people over five years, ensuring that team members feel supported and engaged in their roles so that they can enjoy their work.
