About Rachel Silver

During my time in undergrad, I worked in a psychophysiological research lab known as the Mind-Body Lab at Virginia Tech. My role as second-in-command to the primary investigator improved my skills in lab management, data collection and cleaning, procedural implementation, and manuscript preparation. I worked with participants to ensure experimental procedures were followed, and I also trained new team members on procedural implementation and data collection and cleaning. I worked in this position for two years, before graduating from Virginia Tech. Afterwards, I worked as a sales representative for Virginia ABC, where I mastered the art of customer service and learned swathes of information about spirits. I completed graduate school at Hollins University, where I obtained my Masters and licensure for teaching art. I am certified to teach PK-12 Art in the state of Virginia, and have spent months observing and teaching in preparation for this role. After teaching in various roles for a year, I accepted a full-time position at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute where I continue to refine and develop my skills conducting research and managing ongoing projects in the Human Neuroimaging Lab under Dr. Read Montague.
