Rachel Stein-Hulin brings over 35 years of visual storytelling and leadership expertise across prestigious media organizations and creative ventures. Until recently she served as Deputy Director of Photography at The LOS ANGELES Times, where she led a dynamic team of nine photographers and editors while overseeing high-profile projects including the Best 101 Restaurants in L.A, The Emmys, and The Oscar Roundtables. Prior to this role, she operated as a Freelance Photo and Video Director & Producer for ten years, developing comprehensive visual strategies for esteemed clients such as Random House, People Magazine, and Huffington Post. Her diverse career includes serving as Creative Director at Ghost Curatorial where she shaped online presence for a fine art advisory firm, Director of Photography at travel startup Oyster managing fifteen photographers throughout the Caribbean, Visual Content & Marketing Manager at PhotoShelter where she built a social identity for the photography platform and achieved unique monthly readers. Prior to that she was a Photo Director at Rolling Stone Magazine managing all digital imagery and securing exclusive content, Photo Editor at lifestyle website Nerve where her visual team won several AI-AP awards, and Degree Program Director at the International Center of Photography overseeing MFA and Certificate Programs. As a published author, she wrote the critically acclaimed epistolary novel “Hey Harry, Hey Matilda” published by Doubleday in 2017 and the imaginative children’s book “Flying Henry” published by PowerHouse Books in 2014. Her educational foundation includes a MA in Studio Art and Photography from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in 20th Century Painting and Art History from Brown University, providing the academic rigor that underpins her practical expertise in editorial, fine art, and digital media sectors.
