About Rachel Weaver

Rachel is a dedicated environmental sustainability practitioner with over 20 years of experience. Working across local government, private industry and not-for-profit organisations she has gained a wealth of skills and knowledge in environmental sustainability, climate change, water and waste management and business administration. Rachel’s mission is to enable people to make positive changes for a better environment. Her friendly, engaging and insightful approach helps to inspire others, while she demonstrates her core values of authenticity, integrity and collaboration/ team work. Recently Rachel joined The Diggers Club to pursue her passion in gardening and horticulture, and to share her knowledge and enable others to garden and learn about sustainability. At Frankston City Council she led the development and implementation of several of the City’s environmental policies, strategies and plans, delivered National award winning projects with her team, and secured over $1.5M in external funding for local sustainability projects. She played a critical role in establishing the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance and is proud of the positive and lasting changes that has achieved with their communities in the south east region of Melbourne. Rachel is currently studying horticulture and specialises in environmental strategy, research, project management, education and behaviour change, environmental monitoring and reporting, and community engagement. “The single greatest lesson the garden teaches is that our relationship to the planet need not be zero-sum, and that as long as the sun still shines and people still can plan and plant, think and do, we can, if we bother to try, find ways to provide for ourselves without diminishing the world.” Michael Pollan
