I love learning how things work, and I enjoy fitting different processes together to make a more profitable business. As an office manager, I’ve had more than ten years of experience connecting different business processes, such as purchasing and accounts payable, customer service and accounts receivable, and marketing through website search engine optimization (SEO). When any one of these processes is improved, the entire business grows stronger. By creating new website content and using a long-term SEO plan, organic search results for my employer’s website tripled in three months, which increased new customer inquiries and quote requests. These inquiries created more than $35K in new revenue and new customers in just eight months. When I worked for a laboratory that offered a wide range of à la carte testing services to hundreds of different customers, I created a new AR process in QuickBooks that organized customer accounts by type, including account discount structures, customized service packages, and customer history. This reduced invoice errors by more than 90% and decreased customer complaints about mis-billings. The more accurate billing process increased customer retention and also reduced the DSO (days sales outstanding) in collections. As a buyer, I created an interactive online purchase request form that allowed technicians from several locations to request needed supplies and inventory items. By using this form, internal purchase requests were processed much more quickly, and orders were easily combined to reduce administrative and shipping costs to the company. Ordering requested supplies promptly also improved service levels companywide by reducing unnecessary delays due to inventory stock-outs. I still have a lot to learn, and I enjoy finding new business process puzzles to solve. My employers have encouraged me as I pursue my college degree in business. I’m grateful for their support, and I look forward to meeting new challenges in the future.
