About Rachel Wulbert

As a therapist I am excited about being involved in work, that supports my strong belief in the significance of relationship building and connection. It has been my experience that even though it may not feel like it in the moment, every experience - whether joyful or painful - has the potential to contribute to the richness of life and can be deeply transformational. My hope is to work together and to build a relationship built on mutual trust and respect where these experiences can be explored. My lens is one of attachment: research supports that the way we experience and regulate our emotions is learned from the attachments we develop early in life. A lack of connection can be lonely and distressing. Many of us have turned to substances, alcohol, food, relationships, self-criticism and other self-defeating behaviors to numb the pain of disconnection. I have extensive experience working across multiple systems, including therapy, substance use treatment, higher education, social justice, and medical trauma always with the goal to provide tools that will allow a person to effect change in their life through dialogue, education, advocacy, and engagement. Research experience in addiction, social and emotional learning, developmental and postsecondary education, English Language Learners, multicultural education theory and educational equity. recovery Areas of specialization include addiction & trauma, motivational interviewing and life transitions.
