About Radim Bufka

Nothing is closer to magic than writing software. It’s a modern type of wizardy that let us build wonders with the help of a few incantations. That’s why I became a software engineer: To understand it and to enjoy it. My focus and passion is building backed systems - both data processing and web systems. Mostly in Java/Kotlin. In my career I have gone through many experiences and positions: QA automation, consulting, FE, team leadership, people management and a bit of product ownership. That makes any communication and cooperatiton with other people easier and more productive as I can empathize with others’ roles and needs. Working together is key in achieving greater outcomes and I always prefer working in a group to working alone. Sharing success kindles much more joy. More importantly, sharing failure douses disappointment and helps to learn and move forward faster. As a tech leader I enjoy designing high level as well as lower level architectures, product discovery etc. but I believe a hands-on coding is required not to lose touch with the system. Helping others grow gives me satisfaction as well as a bit of scare as I’m relentlessly working towards potentially replacing myself :) I am passionate - I will go to great lengths about things I care about. But I am not stubborn and can be reasoned with. I am patient - For things that matter I am a botomless well of patience. I will go at it to the best of my abilities. I am cheery - You’ll hear me laugh a lot. I find joy in little odd (and even) things. I can be too meticulous - I try to keep a rein on it but if it’s too much do pinch me. Hard. I don’t like writing lengthy texts - Unless with passion. But I did not use ChatGPT to write this text as that would not be truly about me.
