About Raewyn Paviour

I’ve worked for Otago Polytechnic since 2005, initially as a Viticulture Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, and latterly as a Facilitator and Academic Mentor with Capable NZ.Before my move into tertiary education, I was a midwife for 23 years. I worked in the UK and NZ as a senior midwife in tertiary level maternity units, before becoming a Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) in my own independent practice.Deciding to learn new things, my focus moved to the NZ wine industry. In earning my Bachelor of Viticulture, I acquired not only skills and experiences, but also a passion for learning which lead me into the tertiary education sector. I began working for Otago Polytechnic teaching viticulture in the heart of New Zealand Pinot Noir country – Central Otago. Still keen to retrain and learn new things, in 2007 I gained the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training, and in 2008 I qualified as an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems Auditor and worked as an independent auditor, auditing the NZ Winegrowers Sustainable Winegrowing NZ (SWNZ) programme until 2017.Now, as a Facilitator and Academic Mentor with Capable NZ I work with a wide range of learners as they work to gain a formal qualification based on the skills and experience they have any chosen field. I walk beside and share the learning journey of my learners, and provide mentorship throughout. I feel very privileged to be in this role. It is truly transformational for people to achieve formal recognition for skills and experience gained over a life time of work.OP School: CAPABLE NZPosition: Facilitator and Academic Mentor Location: Based in Central Otago, and frequently DunedinQualifications I work with are: Bachelor of Applied Management, Bachelor of Social Services, Diploma in Brewing, NZ Diploma in Production Horticulture & Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice (Generic and OHS)My work phone is: 021735856My email: Raewyn.paviour@op.ac.nz
