About Rafael E. Sanchez Rodriguez

Dr Rafael E. Sanchez-Rodriguez received his PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University. He completed an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Pre-Doctoral Internship at School Street Counseling Institute (SSCI), a Community Mental Health Clinic in Springfield, MA. He provided linguistically and culturally competent outpatient services in English / Spanish to Latino/children and families with various mental health and substance use issues. Following his internship, Dr Sanchez continued working at Behavioral Health Network where he is a Behavioral Health Consultant for Baystate Health Centers-Community Primary Care Clinic. He is very interested in the integration of behavioral health into medical settings and streamlining behavioral health care models into routine medical care. In addition to his individual and group treatments, he is passionate about enhancing the inter-professional development and training of medical and behavioral health providers for integrated care. With this effort, he is invested in his leadership roles on multiple national committees aimed at improving models of care for behavioral health needs. Dr Sanchez’s clinical and academic pursuits have had a strong focus on motivation, health promotion, health behaviour change and chronic disease prevention and management. He has a collaborative approach to care designed to help clients live the life they seek, focusing on adding meaning and value. He uses science-supported treatments including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help clients meet their goals and make the changes they seek. He focuses on the client's strengths and helps build skills for shifting and adapting unhelpful/negative thinking and behavioural patterns. He focuses on what the clients can do to work in the present to enhance their confidence, skills and quality of life.
