About Rafael Resende

I work at the intersection of data engineering, observability, and IT operations, helping organizations keep mission-critical platforms reliable and cost-efficient at scale. Over the last decade, I’ve moved from hands-on execution to leading high-impact teams that deliver measurable business results. Some of the work I’m most proud of:Cut more than US$2M/year in infrastructure and observability costs by optimizing log pipelines, Splunk ingestion, and Datadog/Grafana monitoring.Designed real-time alerting and automated failover that reduced incident detection and response time by 90%, strengthening SLA performance.Built and managed analytics and observability teams (up to 45 people) focused on incident management, risk reduction, and operational resilience.Delivered data platforms with Airflow, BigQuery, Power BI, and SQL to guide decisions on cloud spend, SLA targets, and engineering productivity. What drives me is turning complex data and big-scale systems into clarity and resilience. I’m especially interested in how observability, data pipelines, and cloud cost optimization can directly shape business outcomes.Today, my focus is on scaling analytics engineering and observability practices, mentoring high-performing teams, and helping global organizations run always-on systems with confidence.
