About Rafael Rocha

I am Rafael Assumpção Rocha, an International Relations professional with a robust academic background and a deep understanding of global affairs. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Brasília, two Master's degrees from the Federal University of Santa Catarina and Université Paris and a Bachelor's degree from Centro Universitário Curitiba. My core competencies lie in International Security, International Relations Theory, Humanitarian Law, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Global Governance, International Cooperation, Gender in International Relations, Responsibility to Protect, and Normative Entrepreneurship. I also coordinate the Research Project on Norms, Institutions, and Governance in International Relations. My profile highlights proven experience in academic leadership and project management. I am currently a lecturer at the Federal University of Pelotas and serve as the substitute coordinator for the International Relations course. I am involved in the IX Academic Week of International Relations and the MigraRI extension project. MigraRI is developed in partnership with the Municipal Committee for the Care of Migrants, Refugees and Stateless Persons of Pelotas, an initiative of the Municipal Government that aims to promote the reception and integration of this population in the city. At the Federal University of Roraima, I held significant leadership roles as a professor, course coordinator, Coordinator of the Amazonian Center for Research in International Relations, and was responsible for the International Relations Coordination, where I also led the Internationalization Policy Commission. My contributions to university governance included serving on the Teaching, Research, and Extension Council and the Editorial Board. Additionally, my international project management experience includes developing cooperation programs with the European Commission and securing international resources at institutions like CITPAR and the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná. My dedication to international exchange and cultural understanding is evident through my AFS exchange program in Belgium, where I lived with a French-speaking family and completed high school. My volunteer work with AFS Intercultura Brasil further cultivated this intercultural experience. I also pursued language studies in London (English) and Salamanca (Spanish), and lived in Paris during my Master's studies. In Brazil, besides my hometown of Curitiba, I have resided in Florianópolis, Balneário Camboriú, Brasília, Boa Vista, and currently Pelotas.
