About Rafael Sarango

Results-driven leader with proven success developing and managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar programs for nonprofit and academic institutions, with a primary focus on resolving contemporary social challenges by prioritizing the voices of those affected. Highly skilled in nonprofit financial oversight, grant management, and philanthropic relationship development. Demonstrated experience sitting on and working with diverse Boards of Directors with wide-ranging goals and communication styles. In the intervening years, I have presented my work at numerous conferences including: Texas Network of Youth Services Conference in 2016, 2017 and 2018 Texas Conference to End Homelessness in 2013 National Association for Bilingual Education in 2012 Texas Association for Bilingual Education in 2011 and 2012 I have also spoken at University of Texas Health Sciences Center, Baylor College of Medicine, and the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work (2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively and ongoing). My work focuses largely on resolving contemporary social challenges by building diverse community initiatives to understand them, developing and expanding inclusive programs to tackle them, and prioritizing the voices of those affected by them.
