About Rafeah Wahi

Rafeah Wahi is an Associate Professor in Faculty of Resource Science and Technology, UNIMAS. Her research and work experience focuses specifically in Waste Utilization Technology, Scientific Communications, Service Learning, and Curriculum Development and Management. She has 18 years of experience in teaching and research. She was awarded Anugerah Akademik Harapan UNIMAS and Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing by Elsevier in 2016. Her current H-index is 10, and one of her review papers was cited for more than 260 times. She also co-authored 3 books, published more than 50 scientific publications including journals, proceedings and articles in bulletins. She has been a reviewer for more than 15 indexed journals. She is also involved in Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) as Strategic Committee for Service Learning Malaysia-University for Society (SULAM) since 2018, and contributed in writing the SULAM Playbook and High Impact Educational Practices (HIEPs) in General Studies Courses (MPU) Guidebook. Dr. Rafeah’s research work focuses on the processing of agricultural waste for utilization as useful products, mainly via pyrolysis technology. Sewage sludge and agricultural wastes from the palm oil and sago industries was turned into bio-oil that can be upgraded into fuel material and chemical feedstocks. Biochar produced is applied as soil amender and activated carbon for removing water pollutants. Her research work also involves composting for reducing food waste disposal. She is also involved in research project related to Service Learning, and Curriculum Development and Management. She is passionate about learning and benefiting community through her research, as well as helping the scientific community especially students and early researchers to communicate their research more efficiently.
