About Raghavan Shastri

As a post graduate in commerce, I began my career as an Accounts Assistant in Tata Steel and grew into the position of Junior Officer handling accounting and banking functions relating to import transactions. After qualifying as a Company Secretary in the year 1988, I moved into the corporate secretarial function dealing with the functions of a company secretary including shareholder relations. Subsequently I obtained a degree in law (LL.B.) and handled certain legal functions including interacting with lawyers and counsels for litigation work. After moving to Tata Sons in 1996, I continued to handle corporate legal and secretarial functions under the Senior Vice President, Finance & Company Secretary. I also handled general administration and HR functions of the company. In January 2007, I moved to Tata Industries taking over the position of Vice President, Legal & Company Secretary, while also handling the HR function. I retired in September 2012 and was appointed by Tata Sons as a Legal Advisor and served in that position until mid February 2018. Since then, I am serving as Senior Advisor, Secretarial Compliance with Tata Trusts. I have now spent more than 40 years with the Tata Group.
