About Rahim Esmail

As Associate General Counsel in TELUS Legal & Regulatory Affairs (TLRA), I lead a team of legal professionals that support TELUS Agriculture and Consumer Goods (TAC) on all legal matters. TAC is creating better producer-to-consumer outcomes through software and data solutions. Previously, at TELUS, I advised business units on complex procurement matters, with a focus on the procurement of software, cloud, and AI solutions. These strategic transactions helped drive TELUS' digital transformation. I am also the co-chair of TLRA's AI Think Tank (and I previously chaired the Data and Privacy COE). I am interested in all things AI, including legislation, contracting for AI, technological solutions, and practical use cases in law and business generally. At TELUS, I have served as a board secretary for various charitable community boards and I have acted as a principal to law students from UBC’s Allard School of Law. Outside of TELUS, I have served as a director on the board of Arthritis Research Canada.
