About Rahul Mistri

I am the founder and principal designer at Open Atelier Mumbai, where my work and the studio’s approach are shaped by the belief that design is about creating meaningful experiences. Every project is an opportunity to craft immersive, emotionally resonant spaces that leave a lasting impact. Music is at the heart of my creative foundation—it’s where I first learned about rhythm, harmony, and emotional tone. These elements now guide my design process, helping me create timeless, forward-thinking, and human-centred environments. Over the past decade, I have led Open Atelier Mumbai in delivering a diverse portfolio of 75+ projects across India and 15+ cities internationally, spanning residential, retail, hospitality, workspaces, and high-end real estate. Our design philosophy blends striking design, smart technology, and meticulous craftsmanship to create spaces that are both intuitive and purposeful. I believe every surface, light, texture, and material has the potential to shape how we experience space. My approach is hands-on, detail-driven, and collaborative, rooted in storytelling and strategic thinking. Along the way, I have had the honour of contributing to design discourse through panel talks and global juries. At the core, I am committed to designing spaces that don’t just serve a function but resonate deeply, shaping meaningful experiences for those who inhabit them.
