About Rahul Ravindran

I am currently working as procurement manager (Procurement, Operations, supply chain,Construction, manufacturing, Fit Out and MEP) in CS Interiors DUBAI. Prior to this, I have completed my Bachelors in Mechanical engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Bangalore, India. After completing my bachelors I have worked as a junior mechanical engineer at western India plywood Ltd for an year.It is one of the largest hardboard manufacturing company in Asia.As a whole I have been exposed to various Modules of Mechanical & Industrial engineering such as Design, Manufacturing, Automobiles, Production & Quality Management, Operations research, Supply chain & Logistics etc. and also quite a few software’s such as, MS Office, CATIA V5, Cadd, Ansys etc. But among all these the one domain that caught my interest was "Supply chain Management and logistics", thereby inspiring me to shape my career around it. Logistics engineering is a field of engineering dedicated to the scientific organization of the purchase, transport, storage, distribution, and warehousing of materials and finished goods. Logistics is generally a cost center service activity, but provides value via improved efficiency and customer satisfaction.In the present world, Supply chain and logistics has been acknowledged to be a value creator and a source of competitive advantage in all types of Industries such as Agro, automotive, food & beverage, service electronics, pharmaceuticals etc. For me Supply chain Management plays a vital role as it involves all the activities, right from procuring raw materials to delivering finished goods, making it one of the Backbones of an industry Hence I feel being a supply chain manager one must have an overall view of the company, be dynamic, spontaneous, communicative, innovative etc. so as to optimize the product/ service flow and stay competitive in the market.
