About Raimundo Mateus

I have worked in the offshore oil and gas industry now since August 2008 when I was employed as a trainee rigger by Sparrows Offshore Services to work on BP Greater Plutonio FPSO Block 18 Angola. I am a very enthusiastic individual who thrives off challenges in the work environment. I am also very enthusiastic about health and safety in the work place and pay close attention to detail in everything I do. In these 6 years I have gained a multitude of skills by working with very experienced men such as working as part of a very busy deck crew operating a fork lift truck, banking of cranes, sling of loads consisting of various sizes, shapes and weights, carrying out blind lifts, coordination of deck space, taking a leading roll, assisting in crane rope changes, and liaising with vessel masters during the unloading and back loading of cargo. I have also built up the experience required to work competently as part of a heli-deck crew, emergency response fire team member and also as a designated first aider in the emergency response team. I have also gained many skills that have enabled me to work competently as a rigger. I have been part of many shutdown and construction projects in my time offshore, including 3 very large and successful TAR's which I was involved in lifting operation lifting loads of up to 35t. I was also part of a project which was to replace over 100t of 12'' water injection pipework which was completed on time, incident free in sometimes very challenging circumstances. The biggest achievement so far in my career is being awarded an NVQ Level 4 for Rigging/Moving Loads which is something I am very, very proud of. I am one of the first Angolan employees of Sparrows to achieve this award and it has given me more confidence and determination to progress my career even more.
