About Raine Wierstra

As a Civil Engineering student at the University of British Columbia, I am passionate about designing and developing infrastructure that is both innovative and sustainable. With five years of drafting experience, I have honed my skills in AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks, translating ideas into detailed, functional designs. My experience extends beyond the classroom—I have successfully led and contributed to projects such as a subdivision and house plan design in AutoCAD, a LEGO crane project that placed 4th out of 400+ students, and a Python-based AI calendar that earned 3rd place at the 2024 Girls in Tech Hackathon. These experiences have strengthened my problem-solving, leadership, and technical skills. Beyond engineering, I thrive in team environments, whether it’s collaborating with peers on structural and fluid mechanics coursework or officiating intramural sports as a referee at UBCO Recreation. My ability to adapt, communicate, and lead has been further shaped by my time as a barista, childcare provider, and volunteer. Currently seeking co-op and internship opportunities, I am eager to apply my skills in real-world engineering challenges. Let’s connect and build something great together!
