About Raisa Sequeira

I have always expressed this affinity for helping others. I am extremely growth-oriented and therefore constantly learning. One of the key tenets that inform my theory and praxis is that we must always include community. I aspire to inform process and practice of nonprofits' role in social change via research, gap analysis, and racial equity. At my most recent role, my mission was to orchestrate impactful state policy campaigns, focusing on education and health issues to enhance student wellbeing and food security. My approach intertwines research and legislative analysis with a commitment to community-centric outcomes. My role involves a dynamic collaboration with teams and stakeholders, leveraging organizational resources to address legislative opportunities and threats. The goal is to maximize state and federal policy outcomes, mirroring our commitment to community inclusion and the betterment of those we serve. My colleagues would tell you that I am creative and goal-oriented. I trust data-driven decision-making. I love meeting new people in the fields of Psychology, Social Work, Advocacy, Government Agencies, and Public Service. I have a background in Positive Psychology and Community Psychology. As a firm believer that "All begins within," I am certain that a way to better our communities is to first better ourselves. However, it is so important to acknowledge and address socio-historical and system barriers to access. Moreover, in the words of Audre Lorde, there is no liberation without community. We cannot get closer to justice without including the voices and expertise of those who are directly impacted by the issues.
