I am doing some draft design of a enterprise scale smart data layer, which will be able work with any popular middleware, any JMS implementation, and provide clients a simplistic API to do P2P, Multicast, Broadcast, this will serve as a transactional, static, real-time-non-transactional (mkt data ). Endpoint translators wherever required can be code generated from an easy to use DSL, thin web layer to track, trace messages, admin layer to authenticate channel, topic permissions, manage encryptions, etc. It is a vision to provide a uniform datamodel / protocol covering for entire geography backed up by reasonable HW infrastructure. EDB ( Enterprise Data Bus ), ESDB ( for Static ), ETDB ( for transactional data ). The layer will also provide persistence and recovery point, local caching etc. The aim is transport messages as fast as the local NW can do. Entire datamodel will be meta driven, and protocol format will be FIX, payload format - I am still thinking about it. Channels will support guaranteed delivery, fire and forget, as well as one or more central persistence hubs where everything will be stored in relational model. Goal is to have a single point of entry to access static, market, historical, transactional data in a generic way. The entire layer is data agnositic, what you define is what is sent. A simple portal with visual tool to create new entities, authorize and approve any hold for apporval marked messages etc. Information security will be the most critical aspect of this system. Centralized authentication, and the underlying middleware will not be accessible to anyone except for NW admins to monitor traffic. Anyone willing to invest.common, I am the poorest sod.
