About Raj Kumar

I am a Biochemist who is interested in solving problems related to protein folding, cellular biology, and evolutionary mechanism. I am an associate professor at the Institute of Advanced Sciences. I worked in both professional and academic settings, and having an adequate experience in both settings. I have a broad multidisciplinary background in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, spectroscopy, biophysical studies and cellular biology. I completed my Ph.D. in the field related to Botulinum Neurotoxin, BoNT. My thesis title was "Folding and Flexibility of BoNT/A Light Chain". I published more than 25 manuscripts along with two books (Protein Toxins in Modeling Biochemistry (Springer Brief, New York) and Practical Techniques in Molecular Biotechnology (Cambridge University Press, UK), and about five manuscripts are in preparation. I have an adequate training in protein purification, biophysical experiments, performing and analyzing molecular dynamics simulation, and cellular experiments. Selected in NIH-ECR program. I am also part of the editorial board of Frontiers of Molecular Biosciences. I successfully demonstrated (in a NIH funded research) a molecular treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI). Continuing this research, currently working on developing a treatment strategy for complete regeneration of neurons after injury. My current research includes protein folding and dynamics, vaccines, therapeutic biomolecules, cellular biology, oncology, neuro-biochemistry and molecular dynamics simulations. Working with a very competent team in USA and India both to develop some cutting-edge technology related to therapeutic biomolecules.
